Dr. Gowins has a PhD from Denver University/Iliff School of Theology. He is a Colorado Licensed Professional Counselor, #3608.

He has been a marriage, family, and individual therapist since 1990. John serves as the the Executive Director of Eagles Nest Retreat. Individuals, families, or couples receive up to one week intensive counseling when they were located in Ouray, Colorado. However, now located in the Front Range the focus is on virtual counseling sessionsHe has also taught Counseling Theories and Personality Theories at Graduate School.

Dr. Gowins has been married to Kathleen since 1969. They have two children and 7 grandchildren.
